Every four years, the swimmers, coaches, parents, alumni and friends of the North Baltimore Aquatic Club have gathered to celebrate the club’s success in the Olympic year. In 2004, the club put a new twist on these quadrennial occasions by adding a fully catered evening of camaraderie, entertainment, auction and dinner. The inaugural Countdown to Gold, Athens was a great success, and it is time to do it again!

Countdown to Gold, Baltimore to Beijing, will be the Olympic event of the year in Baltimore. Gathering under a tent covering the outdoor pool at Meadowbrook will be former Olympic stars including Michael Phelps, Theresa Andrews, Anita Nall and Beth Botsford along with NBAC’s thirteen 2008 Olympic Trial Qualifiers, including 2004 Olympian and world record holder, Katie Hoff. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the NBAC Endowment Fund..

For over forty years, the North Baltimore Aquatic Club has dared to dream the big dreams of national, international and Olympic success. Our swimmers train in a unique atmosphere where success is measured daily. Their achievements are the result of creative imagination and hard work. Perhaps you are an alumni of NBAC who recognizes the life lessons that swimming gave you and your family. Maybe you are a current parent who is consistently amazed and pleased with the maturity, commitment and dedication your son or daughter exhibits. Or, you could be a friend and fan of good swimming who enjoys supporting an organization devoted to individual pursuit of excellence in and out of the pool.

Regardless of your connection with North Baltimore, we hope you are willing to help with Countdown to Gold, Beijing. There are many ways to help. We are collecting donated items from individuals or families for the silent and live auctions. We will need many volunteers to build upon the success of this event in 2004. We also have several levels of sponsorship opportunities for members of the business community. If you would like to be a part of making this event great in 2008, we want to hear from you.

Please plan on attending Countdown to Gold, Baltimore to Beijing on Saturday, May 10, 2008 in the pool at Meadowbrook. This is a once in a lifetime chance to meet the Olympic stars, past and present, enjoy a beautiful evening of fine dining, dancing, and auctions while supporting one of Baltimore and Maryland’s best organizations, the North Baltimore Aquatic Club.
